About Me

I am a musician who believes that music can reveal what words cannot - truth, vulnerability, and a shared human voice.

Artistic Journey

What began as a childhood fascination has grown into a lifelong path of learning, collaboration, and self-discovery. My journey continues to teach me how music connects people in ways words never could.

Each collaboration, mentor, and performance has shaped the musician I am today.

Biography

Bolivian-Argentinian-German violinist Andreas Siles-Mellinger views music as both a profound form of communication and an instrument for inspiring positive change. He approaches each performance with curiosity, care, and a strong sense of musical storytelling.

Born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, in 1998, Andreas began studying music at the age of eight. His early talent quickly became evident at the Instituto Eduardo Laredo, culminating in a significant milestone at age fifteen when he debuted as a soloist with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Cochabamba — a performance that solidified his commitment to pursuing music professionally.

At thirteen, Andreas moved to Vienna, immersing himself in the European classical tradition first at the Johann Sebastian Bach Musikschule and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Lieke Te Winkel and Ernst Kovacic. His relocation to Europe enriched his artistic voice, combining vibrant South American influences with classical European traditions. He completed his studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Klara Flieder and Rainer Schmidt, and also completed a Concertmaster Artist Diploma at the Fondazione Stauffer in Cremona, Italy.

Throughout his career, Andreas has been recognized through several awards, including the Roczek Award at Mozarteum University, prizes at the Ruggiero Ricci and Swedish International Duo competitions, and first-place finishes in prominent chamber music competitions across Italy. Despite these achievements, Andreas emphasizes genuine connection and authenticity in each performance.

His solo career has featured compelling interpretations of major violin concertos with orchestras throughout Europe and Latin America, including performances under renowned violinist and conductor Maxim Vengerov. Andreas also has a deep appreciation for chamber music, performing regularly at esteemed festivals such as the Salzburger Festspiele, Festival Musica Sull’acqua in Italy, and the Händel-Festspiele Göttingen, experiences that have significantly influenced his collaborative and expressive approach.

As an orchestral leader, Andreas has served as concertmaster with Gustavo Dudamel's Orquesta del Encuentro. Starting in November 2025, he will serve as the leader (Stimmführer) of the first violins in the renowned Mozarteum Orchester Salzburg, highlighting his dedication to artistic leadership and musical collaboration.

Inspired continually by influential mentors such as Ivry Gitlis, Vadim Repin, Lisa Batiashvili, and Benjamin Schmid, Andreas views his musical growth as a lifelong journey of curiosity, collaboration, and dedication. He currently plays on a Julia Pasch violin.

Currently residing in Salzburg, Austria, Andreas Siles-Mellinger continues to create music that authentically speaks to audiences, embracing vulnerability and human connection at the core of his artistic philosophy.
